Description
This variety was developed by Dr Durif in the Rhone Valley of South Eastern France during the 1880s.
Durif is a crossing of Peloursin and Syrah/Shiraz and produces full bodied, strong flavoured wines that are dry and characterised by intense, deep colour and high tannin content.
While this wine can be consumed now, especially with rich meaty dishes, game or grilled or barbecued meats, it will repay extended cellaring.
